How this product helps the rail industry
This Standard helps improve safety of railway operations, harmonisation, interoperability and efficiency of infrastructure maintenance rolling stock operating on Australian rail networks.
Proper braking performance and control contributes to people and community safety through the prevention of train runaways, collisions or derailments of railway rolling stock. Adoption of this Standard can lead to lower rail safety incidents and potential savings in design and supply of suitable braking componentry.
About
AS 7510.4 defines the minimum standards for brake performance, features and compatibility for the braking systems of infrastructure maintenance rolling stock. It defines key technical requirements relating to brake system operation, stopping, and park brake performance requirements as well as a calculation methodology.

AS 7510.4 Braking Systems – Infrastructure Vehicles is available for public consultation for 60 days. All interested parties are encouraged to provide comments during this time.
