AS 7472 Railway Operations - Management of Change

This document describes requirements for the structural strength of bogie structures and attached equipment.

The main purpose of the requirements is:

1. to maintain the structural integrity of bogie structures and attached equipment under normal operation; and
2. to minimize risks to passengers, personnel, train crew and members of the general public in the event of collisions or derailments.

The content of this Standard is intended to assist with the compliance assessment process detailed in AS 7501.

This document describes requirements to limit the forces and contact stresses exerted on the track by rolling stock.

The objective of this Standard is to manage the risks to safety arising from the interface between rail infrastructure and rolling stock during railway operations. It achieves this by setting out the minimum clearance standards for safe operation between:

• rolling stock (including loads) and trackside structures and equipment; and
• rolling stock (including loads) on adjacent tracks.
