AS 7510.7 ECP Braking
The closing date for nominations – Thursday 2 April 2026
The Australian Rail Industry Standards Organisation (ARISO) is seeking nominations from expert rolling stock engineers, braking and train systems specialists, heavy haul operators, and ECP equipment suppliers, to join a Development Group to review AS 7510.7 ECP Braking.
How will this help the rail industry?
A new standard for electronically controlled pneumatic (ECP) braking, AS 7510.7, will help the wider rail industry tap into the benefits ECP offers. This includes safety through shorter stopping distances and better control on long grades, and efficiency through longer allowable trains, faster running times and less time for recharging.
About
The review of the ECP Code of Practice provides opportunity for creating a new standard that can incorporate the considerable experience that has been accumulated on mostly coal and iron ore services over the past 20 years. This review seeks to reflect this experience in a harmonised standard now that ECP is entering wider service.
Time commitment
Development Group membership is voluntary and requires the support of your organisation to attend and contribute. A minimum of a day per month time commitment will be required between April 2026 and November 2026. Further information on the responsibilities of a Development Group member can be obtained from the our website.
How to contribute
Stakeholders and interested parties are invited to submit nominations for rail industry experts to join this Development Group to contribute to the overall depth and quality of the product.
